Preventative Dentistry
Prevention is the key to better oral health which is why we encourage all patients to come in at least twice a year for dental cleanings. Regular checkups and adequate at-home care regimens are essential components of preventive dentistry.
request an appointmentCleanings And Exams
Having a dental practice perform a checkup and regular cleaning gives a preventive approach to dental care. These general dentistry treatments help prevent problems with your teeth, gums and jaw bones, or they catch and manage problems before they worsen. During your visit, our doctors will take a picture of the current standing of your dental health and what would be needed to keep your oral hygiene in its best state.
request an appointmentRoot Canals
Root canals are needed when decay and bacteria spread for too long without treatment. At a certain point, this decay makes it to the pulp inside the tooth. This pulp includes nerves, therefore infection generally causes a lot of pain. Since this is happening on the inside of the tooth, you won’t necessarily see the damage. Instead, you could feel it through pain and notice other signs that include bleeding, swelling and bad breath.
request an appointmentExtractions
An extraction is performed to remove a tooth, whether because of disease, crowding, or damage. When extractions are required, the area around the tooth will be numbed and your dentist will remove the tooth. A small amount of bleeding is normal, as your mouth will replace the removed tooth root by forming a blood clot in the area.

Night Guards
It can be beneficial to use a guard, or covering, to protect your teeth from grinding while sleeping. Similar to how a mouthguard protects teeth during sports, this layer prevents damage to the teeth that can occur naturally.
There are a wide variety of different types of mouthguards, ranging from pre-formed pieces to ones that are custom fitted to your teeth and jaws. Some of these can even be formed at home through a boil-and-bite process.
TMJ Treatment
If you are suffering from chronic TMJ pain, talk to Dr. Lewis about your treatment options. We can work to resolve your pain through a number of measures. Laser technology can help reduce muscle and joint pain, a night guard can help prevent teeth grinding, or an occlusal adjustment (bite adjustment) can ensure the teeth come together properly. We can also make recommendations on lifestyle changes that may reduce jaw tension.
Wisdom Teeth Extractions
Our goal for your wisdom teeth removal procedure is to make you as comfortable as possible. Once you are relaxed in our dental chair, you will be numbed and may be given a sedation medication to relax you even further. During the procedure, Dr. Lewis may enlist the help of laser technology to encourage faster healing and reduce discomfort. At home, you will be encouraged to eat a soft diet, and avoid smoking and drinking from a straw. Dr. Lewis will also provide personalized postoperative instructions to keep you comfortable while you heal.
Worried about pain with a tooth extraction? You do not need to feel anxious or stressed about your procedure. We offer several forms of sedation dentistry and can recommend nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation or IV sedation as part of your treatment plan. We do everything we can to ensure our patients are as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
SIGNS OF PROBLEMATIC WISDOM TEETH
If you experience any pain, pressure or discomfort in the back of your mouth, you may need to have your wisdom teeth removed. If the wisdom teeth do not erupt through the gums properly or shift for some reason, you could cause damage to the surrounding teeth. Dr. J. Dennis Lewis performs wisdom teeth removal procedures using laser-assisted technology and advanced techniques.
DO YOU NEED YOUR WISDOM TEETH REMOVED?
Some patients experience some level of discomfort or notice a change in their smile while their wisdom teeth are coming in, while others are not aware of any changes. If you experience any pain or think you may need your wisdom teeth out, contact us for a personalized consultation.
